My Journey Into Menopause (so far!)


It began slowly at first. Niggles. Odd sensations. Creeping anxiety.

Then nightly sweats. Multiple changes of bed clothes. Furious brain fog. Exhaustion.

Eventually, nothing seemed familiar. I was forgetting words in meetings. Not sounding like myself. Feelings of detachment. Inexplicable anger.

Where was I? What was happening? My response? Just push harder. Double down. Quadruple down. Stricter diet. More gym. Even counselling (‘…must be unresolved childhood experiences!’) Nothing work. Things got worse. I felt I was losing control — and couldn’t get in front of it, whatever it was.

Looking back the signs were there. I just didn’t know how to read them. I didn’t join the dots. By the time I realised it was perimenopause, I was deep in the fog. And I was terrified. Was I losing my hard won place in the world? Panic. My brain, my tool of trade was failing me. I couldn’t think straight.

I couldn’t see a way out. I wasn’t getting answers from professionals and experts I thought would know. People I originally held in high regard—because of their training.

That’s when I stopped chasing surface-level, familiar fixes and began a deeper path— researching, studying and eventually training in women’s health and wellness. Not as a job, but because I had to.

And what I discovered went far beyond what they told me..
